Mullein is mildly relaxing, helps to promote calm feelings, and fights against anxiety. Typically mullein is added to smoking blends to reduce harshness. It burns slowly and steadily, with thick plumes of white smoke that’s soothing to the throat. Mullein can also be taken as a tea that promotes healthy digestion and reduces stomach discomfort.

History and Use
Mullein has long been used as an herbal remedy for respiratory problems, including asthma. It is often a common herbal remedy for ear infections, especially in people sensitive to normal antibiotic treatments. It is also used to relieve sore throat, cough, and pleurisy. The flowers are the most commonly used part of the plant.

I have tried mullein flower, not the standard herb. It gives a reliable relaxant effect. It is either a sedative or a tranquilizer of some sort. I would not recommend smoking it before driving or anything where falling asleep would put you in danger. This is probably the best thing I have smoked from the site to date, it is sweet and goes down smooth. After smoking a pipe full, I got a broad calm buzz that lasted for over an hour. Good stuff.
Excuse me, do you know if the head can be smoked or vaporized? Or just the leaves?
I’m currently taking myself off of oxycodone after 8 years. Yes, my doctor is aware and helping. I was born with a spinal disease that causes much pain. I also smoke tobacco only. Another thing I need to stop. My question is: will this herb give me bad side effects if I smoke it while I’m getting off my pain medication? Thanks!
I tried it and it works great for helping with side effects of getting off my meds and cigarettes! I’m already smoking a third of what I use too in only two days! It didn’t take long to get use to it either. It’s like extremely mild marijuana I think? I have to remind myself to take the amount of meds I’ve allotted myself. My back will remind me too at times. I’m so glad I decided to give this a try. Great stuff!
Other benefits are: sleeping better, no morning allergies and some weight loss as it curbs my appetite. I’ve been eating fresh fruits instead of junk as my body now craves fruit. Yea!
Great share! Thanks
dang. i had this plant growing all around me in Colorado.
when I have an asthma attack, it only takes one puff of smoked mullein and my smooth muscles in my lungs relax and stops the asthma in its tracks. I only have mild to moderate asthma.
Incredible feedback. Thanks a lot!
Easily found in the mid-Atlantic US on roadsides and abandoned fields.
Yup, I found some near a railroad here in Canada. I’ve cut the head, boiled it until I had a brownish liquid, and had a healthy tea.
It is very unsafe to use any roadside herbs, they get sprayed with salts and all sorts of pretty nasty stuff, also they are usually not very healthy plants! If trying to harvest and use these herbs, you must find them away from roads and paths.
I have seen a lot of it up where I live in New Hampshire. I read somewhere that it grows in all 50 states.
